FAQ's

What is CymruFuture?

CymruFuture is a unique organisation in South Wales because it offers junior professionals the chance to network with their peers in an informal and – crucially – free environment.

Our events take place every few months, typically in the newest and coolest venues that Cardiff has to offer.

CymruFuture was set up in 2009 by a group of newly qualified solicitors, all of whom felt that there were limited opportunities to mix with other commercial professionals with a similar level of experience to them.

Who is behind CymruFuture?

CymruFuture is chaired by Tom Bedford, a solicitor at DAC Beachcroft LLP in Newport, and Nicole Pearson, a solicitor at Eversheds. They are supported by a number of colleagues and by Lauren Jones and Hannah Goodchild of Red Recruitment. Paul Lavelle of Faithful & Gould is our IT Wizard. We are always looking for volunteers to help us so if you think that is you, get in touch

What does "junior professionals" mean?

Good question! It is hard to define and there are no set rules. There is certainly no age limit.

We take the view that "junior" means anyone who has up to ten years' post qualification experience.

Are CymruFuture events open to any type of professional?

CymruFuture is targeted at what we would call "commercial professionals". Think accountants, bankers, surveyors, architects, lawyers and entrepreneurs, as opposed to doctors and teachers etc.

Our members come from all commercial sectors and specialise in areas such as finance, HR, IT, media, PR and marketing.

Do I have to pay for a ticket?

Firstly, our events are not ticketed, but to guarantee your place, we ask that you register your details on our website. By doing so, we will also keep you up to date with our latest news and forthcoming events.

Our events are free, in that there is no admission charge. Normally, because we are supported by amazing sponsors, we can offer you at least a free drink (maybe two!) and a bite to eat. Food and drinks are, however, on a first come first served basis.

How often do CymruFuture events take place?

It depends. We try to get together three or four times a year depending on our sponsors and how busy we are!

We normally kick things off at 6.00pm and our events often go on until late. We try to arrange events for Thursday evenings just because the weekend is in sight!
